The average life of a web site design is 8-16 months. The average
life of a good database design-infinite!
Your
content or information, once developed, should never have to be
rewritten, only re-purposed. A tremendous cost of most sites today
falls into the creation and conversion of information so that a
web interface can access that information. As companies and their
information management techniques mature, the cost will shift to
the management of that data.
Because
the raw costs to store tremendous amounts of information is rapidly
declining, the issues of the next decade will soon be how to manage
and effectively access mountains of information as opposed to getting
information into a management tool.
